2026 Texas Farmers Union Priorities


Fairness to Farmers

  • Supporting farmers “Right to Repair” legislation
  • Supporting the reintroduction of Mandatory Country of Origin (MCOOL) labeling on all beef and food products.
  • Supporting current and future investigations into and the immediate recourse to end the monopolistic practices in the Cattle, Fertilizer, Chemical, Seed, and Equipment industries that are hurting the viability of U.S. farmers and ranchers.
  • Supporting the cattle Price Discovery and Transparency Act and the full enforcement of the Packers and Stockyard Act.
  • Supporting the Small Processors Action Plan, which reduces regulatory burdens to independent and small-scale operations and provides grants via the Meat and Poultry Processing Expansion Program (MPPEP).
  • Opposing the Mandatory Electronic Animal ID program for cattle.

2026 TFU Farm Priorities

  • Passing a robust and comprehensive Farm Bill that will strengthen the Farm Safety Net, account for higher input costs and lower commodity prices, Expand and Enhance Permanent Disaster Programs, Enact the Dairy Revitalization Plan to stem the loss of family dairy farms and foster strong and resilient Local and Regional Food Systems and Diverse Markets.
  • Finding new Fair-Trade Agreements to benefit the increased movement of agricultural commodities.
  • The immediate halt to all current and new Data Centers being built until we have strong regulations that protect local drinking water resources and extreme pressures on the local/state power grids.
  • Seeking quick advancements and funding to prevent an outbreak and the spread of the New World Screwworm disease.
  • Financial Assistance to family farmers, ranchers, and dairymen/women to help offset the current and unrelenting perils that are hurting the viability of U.S. producers.
  • Protections of Texas Water Resources.
  • Better healthcare options and availability for Texas.
